Why Downtown Toronto families choose in-home reading support

  • No transit or parking hassles before or after a lesson
  • Small condo? No problem — we bring a portable visual schedule and set up a calm reading corner
  • Lessons fit around busy downtown schedules, including after school
  • Learning in a familiar space helps anxious or sensory-sensitive children settle faster

The Spelling for Hope approach

Holistic, structured literacy — at your kitchen table

Structured literacy

Orton-Gillingham principles and UFLI Foundations, taught explicitly and multisensorily.

Regulation first

Visual schedules, movement breaks and session lengths that fit your child.

Interest-led

Streetcar spotters and CN Tower fans: we’ll write stories about the 504 King or the view from the top.

Our promise to you

The First-Session Fit Guarantee

Rapport comes before reading. If your child and their tutor don’t connect in the very first session, that session is free — or we’ll match you with a different tutor right away. Your choice, no awkward conversations.

Downtown Toronto FAQ

Do you also serve the east and west ends?

Yes — including the Beaches, Leaside, Bloor West Village, High Park and Roncesvalles. Add your intersection to the intake and we’ll confirm.

Do you work with my child’s school?

Yes. With your permission, we can share progress notes with your child’s TDSB, TCDSB or private school teacher and IEP team.

Can I use funding?

Some families use Jordan’s Principle, the Medical Expense Tax Credit or other options. Standalone tutoring isn’t an OAP core clinical service, so we’ll explain your options honestly.
